God, I love Peacocks!
The bird chirps in the morning and in the evening. So wonderful to hear, such a beautiful sight to witness, and I am thankful to exist to experience them.
I used to live in a place that had ample of peacocks. These absolutely phenomenal birds have striking iridescent plumage and long tail feathers. Their beauty is something that one can describe in mere words; no, they are something more than that. No dye can truly ever capture the same colours as that of a peacock, no dye can ever do that.
And yet, the villagers do not admire them as much. Heck, some villagers even make them run away from their vast golden fields because, well obviously, these peacocks are an absolute menace to the crops. They peck and peck and peck the wheat or the maize.
For them, this is normal life. They have no smart phones, no smart TVs, yet they are still well connected with the world.
OR maybe I got a bit wrong here. They ARE more connected with the world, in comparison to us, 80 story building dwellers. They experience the seasons, the rain, the wind, the soil, much, much better than us. Some don't experience so much of nature in their entire lives than these people do in 1 single day.
"shoo, you beautiful bastard, that's my wheat" I heard a farmer once say. It's poetic. Dramatic. You don't get to hear that everyday. Some don't get to hear that in their entire life.
The rain has just stopped. The soil is still a bit wet. And then watch out... here he comes! His wondrous dance has JUST begin! He lifts that enormous train and explodes it into a shimmering fan!!!! And then he struts, he turns in slow circles, he vibrates those feathers at about 25 times per second!! That's the real showstopper!!!
Before the pragmatic sun dawns upon all of us, these glamorous animals start singing. Singing a song that nobody knows the meaning of. Or maybe I'm being a bit dramatic and the peacocks are just talking to each other. Whatever the case may be, these sounds are meditative... soothing.... they bring to me a sense of serenity... tranquility...
are we supposed to live this way?
^^the place I'm describing is rural India. The beauty there is unmatched, and this was just 1 piece of all the fascinating things I experience here.
